Lon Strickler is a prominent Fortean researcher, author, and investigator who is very active in Bigfoot research. He is best known as the founder and publisher of the popular blog and website Phantoms & Monsters, which he started in 2005. Strickler’s interest in the subject is deeply personal. In 1981, he reported a vivid, close-range encounter with a Bigfoot (referred to as the "Sykesville Monster") while fishing in the Patapsco River near Sykesville, Maryland. This event served as the catalyst for his decades of research into cryptids. He has written over a dozen books, including Phantoms & Monsters: Cryptid Encounters, which details many Sasquatch cases.
